Cricket News sort by Ireland v South Africa 34th Match at Kolkata - Mar 15, 2011

South Africa became the fifth team to reach the World Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday, comprehensively ending Ireland's hopes and ramping up the survival pressure on illness-hit England.

India's iconic stadium Eden Gardens hosted its first World Cup match on Tuesday when South Africa took on Ireland in a bid to qualify for the quarterfinals. The Proteas' skipper Graeme Smith, however, lost the toss and was put in to bat on a lively pitch in humid Kolkata, with rain forecast later in the evening.

Ireland face South Africa in the 33rd match of the World Cup at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. A win here will take South Africa to the top of the Group B standings.
